I was honoured to receive the C. Edward Wilson Medal for Media Research for this work. This award, named after the late Professor C. Edward Wilson who made a major contribution to Canadian journalistic research, is given to the student who is "judged the best media research journalist of his or her year based on the degree-ending Capstone course and project."
My final project for my masters was called Freedom or Foolishness and it looked at the Catalan independence movement. For those who don't know Catalonia is a region of Spain where nearly 50 per cent of the population wants to form a separate country.
