Crisis at Liverpool
In 2010, Liverpool was a vastly different club to the one Torres had joined in 2007.
Financial mismanagement by owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks had left Liverpool with a debt of £237million.
On the pitch, the Reds had started the season horribly and were in the relegation zone.
Torres felt that the club were moving into a rebuild and he wanted to win trophies.
"They wanted to bring in young players, to build something new. I was thinking to myself, This takes time to work," said Torres in an interview with Simon Hughes for his book Ring of Fire.
"I was twenty-seven years old. I did not have time to wait," said Torres in Ring of Fire.
