All the Glory, None of the Goals

Big things were expected from Torres when he joined Chelsea for a than British record £50 million in January 2011.

He personally failed to deliver. He scored 45 goals in 172 appearances which is a much lower goals to game ratio then during his time with Liverpool.

But he won almost every possible trophy with the Blues. His honor list includes a Champions League, Europa League, and FA Cup.

The striker has gone on to speak about the difficulties that he had while at Chelsea.

"You end up in a situation where things have not gone well for weeks, or for years. That is like swimming in wet clothes," said Torres in an interview with the Irish Times.

The Moment that Defined it All

Torres had endured a difficult start to his time at Chelsea, but there was hope that he could turn his form around at the start of a new season.

Then came the game against Manchester United on Sunday Sept 11.

Manchester United raced out to a 3 goal lead before Torres pulled a goal back from a lovely chip.

But, that's not what the game is remembered for.

In the 83rd minute, Torres received the ball and rounded David De Gea, the goalkeeper for Manchester United.

The net was wide open.

Somehow Torres put the ball wide.

This moment summed up Torres' time at Chelsea. This was a player who had lost all confidence as a striker. He could no longer even finish the easiest of chances.
